A profound disappointment! The Church is fine setting, although the room is a bit on the noisy side. The service, however, was poor -- underinformative and inattentive. The mixed green salad with garnishes was close to flavorless... sauces and garnishes bland and gooey, little to no spice or interest and the presentation just 5 lumps of soggy greens. The entree deer was fine, but (at about 4 ounces of meat for $50 with a few soggy and nearly tasteless garnishes) horribly overpriced. This was among the worst meals I have eaten at any price in several years, and at $90 per person arguably the worst expensive meal I shall ever eat in my life.
I don't know what happened to the Church. We used to come every year in the 80's and 90's. Now it's like they cater to those with no teeth (foams and gels and puddings) The quality has certainly evaporated.

If you are looking for fine food in a wonderful location, then try the Church Restaurant. The food is devine and the ambience wonderful. I have dined in a number of fine restaurants, but this is the first I've dined at that truly matched the wines to courses in a meaningful way. The wines truly enhanced the flavours of the food and vice versa. The meal was expensive, but worth it.
