We decided to try the Duck for ourselves after hearing a few good and bad reviews. The only saving grace besides the excellent server was the beer. The steak and mushroom pie, a favourite for we 'Brits" had a thick chewy crust and the meat was so overcooked it was inedible. My wife tried the fish and chips. Now there was a disastor! When it finally came, stone cold with equally cold and greasy 'fat fries' the entire plate was covered, I mean COVERED with parsley. A joke, we thought? No. If she had been able to eat the parsley, it would have been better than the F&C. I like to support non franshise reataurants but may adjust my thinking. At least they have some standards and consistency. The bill? $63.00 with a nice tip. They should have tipped us!
Had a great time our dinner was great - and filling for once and service was possibly best ever. can't believe the waitreses in this joint. we will all be back for sure esp for lea and erinn the bartmaid waitresses. worth the trip for these girls and the bbcue short ribs
I know I'm in the minority here...but we didn't love this place and don't know if we will be back. The food was quite expensive for what you get...the salmon was Ok but covered in pepper (not mentioned in the menu), the elk burger, although interesting, was very heavy..but the sweet potato fries were good as were the roast potatoes that came with the chicken. We just thought the prices were a bit high and I guess were underwhelmed with the whole experience. We went in thinking this was a 'pub' and I guess we were expecting pub-like prices. Our waitress was very good - I think her name was Sarah. Draught beer was warm. White wine and rum and cokes good. The place was very full on the Saturday night that we went - a bit dark..but we are getting old, I guess!
Just had a fantastic dinner. Food was absolutely delicious and cooked just perfect. Appetizers arrived quite promptly, but mains took a little while. Not really a big issue though; good things take time. Will definitely return to sample more from the pleasantly unique menu!
Came over to canada from scotland for 2 weeks visiting family over christmas it is one of the best family run pubs i have been in, they made us feel very welcome the food was great the chips are the size of my tv remote something to behold, the burgers are award winning, The fish and chips are ace infact through us all we had the whole menu and nothing was cold nothing was over priced all the staff were great , cant get the stunning bar maids out my mind wow . I was there every day for the 2 weeks and find it very hard to believe that anyone could have a bad review of this pub. George i will be back for my glasses
