“The key to a successful wedding ceremony is for the spotlight to be on the newlyweds not the DJ or host, and that is something too few masters of ceremony keep in mind,” says Stefan Jez, expert DJ, MC, and owner of Uptown Xpress Productions. His company has been creating memorable evenings of all kinds, as well as unforgettable weddings, for a number of clients in Greater Montreal since 2000.

“It’s their night to shine, they are the people the guests came to celebrate," Stefan says. "The DJ and MC is there to highlight them, to make them the stars of the evening, and that’s been our mission since we started Uptown Xpress Productions.”

And while he was trained as a computer engineer, Stefan has been working in music for a long time. “When I was very young, my sister wanted to throw a party for her birthday so I asked my father if I could borrow the family’s stereo and handle the soundtrack. I compiled a playlist and took care of everything. Since then, I have always been interested in the world of DJs and celebrations,” he says. Stefan quickly developed his ear by rifling through music stores and by hosting evenings here and there, until he made his passion into a career by launching Uptown Xpress Productions.
