We come here to celebrate our one year anniversary and only because they have $1 oysters after 5pm. We figured we would have a 5 or 6 dozen and then head out to a lite dinner and some dancing. We never left Biffs. From the amazing service to having the evening manager come over to talk to us, everything here was wonderful. We ended up eating 8 dozen oysters, a bottle of champagne andtwo bottles of wine as well as the Scotch Eggs, Oh me oh my the scotch eggs here are to die for and you will not regret ordering them. We stayed for 5 hours enjoying thre ambience and each others talks. At the end of the night ( we closed the restaurant ) they brought us a complimentry dessert with happy anniversary wriiten in chocolate on it. Nice touch! I highly recommend this restuarant for dinner, business or personal. $1 oysters people! You cant go wrong. Amazing service Fresh and tasty food What are you waiting for? Make a reservation now! lol.
On a recent visit to Toronto, our friends invited us to meet them at Biff's - which they frequent often. We all ordered from the Prix Fixe options and were not disappointed. For $32 I don't think I've had a better full meal. Our friends raved about the homemade mustard - and it didn't disappoint. I had it on bread, with pate, and it would make cardboard taste amazing. Ask for it if you go...and get the story behind it. Great meal. Great service. Well done.
Was very impressed right away with the service as this was my first visit to the restaurant. I was greeted by name at the front desk (I had a reservation) and promptly taken to my table. My server was very knowledgable in regards to both the food menu and wine list. Based on her recommendations I started with the Steak Tartar. I would rate this the second best tartar I have ever had, I found the quail egg in the shell a great presentation and the flavors were spot on. Our main meal was the Rib eye (med rare) and the grilled calves liver. Both were cooked perfectly with the vegetables and fingerling potatos also perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our meal was completed with myself indulging in the traditional Creme brulee and my partner having the madeleines for dessert. What can I say, both were exceptional. The service staff are extremely well trained and provide a top notch experience, as with other reviews it is almost over the top but makes for a memorable dinning experience. Draw backs were the second rate coffee that was served with dessert and the general design of the restaurant. Although it offers traditional Bistro fare with a fine dinning twist the interior is a mix of conteperary design mixed with traditional and abstract influences. I personally felt that the overall design of the restaurant left one wondering if the place was struggling for an identity. My overall rating of this place is a 4 1/2. The pricing is actually a discount for the service provided and the expert preparation of the food, a 2 full course meals, 2 cocktails and a bottle of wine came to $170 which in my opinion was a great value.
Another Oliver and Bonacini chain which i always enjoy. Just like most of their restaurants the service is usually slow but they still have a nice staff. The only problem with the food was that my new york strip was supposed to come with seasonal veg but it ended up being gray celery and onions. (The oysters were the smallest oysters I've ever seen too). So I'd say just stick with their other restuarants since this one is probably their worst :(
We were walking around downtown in search of a random place to eat. Walked past Biff's and were drawn in by the intoxicating aromas wafting off of the patios. Biff's participates in the Summerlicious promotion, and we were lucky to get a three-course meal for $25 per person. Based on the food quality we received, this is an excellent price. The Caesar salad was fresh, with a homemade dressing. It contained black olives and a single, large crouton instead of bacon bits and numerous croutons, a welcome change from the standard, boring salad. The salmon was baked to moist perfection and didn't have a sauce that so often ruins a nice piece of salmon. My fiancée ordered it, so I didn't eat more than a bite, but it was excellent. I ordered the Moroccan chicken with couscous, which was good; the chicken was moist and lightly flavoured, the couscous wasn't mushy and was also lightly spiced. However, I preferred the salmon, as it was more flavourful. The service we received was very attentive and courteous. Evidently we had better waiters than some of the other reviewers or the restaurant has improved their service considerably. Our water and wineglasses were never allowed to go empty, and the timing of the food (appetizer to main course, main course to dessert) was excellent.
