The creativity and artistic skills of Kelly Kyle and Sonja Scharf, owners of Akasha Art Projects Inc., fit neatly together like hand in glove. The framing arm of their business complements the art handling and installation. Their own practises as fine art photographers connect with the curatorial role each plays in their gallery space. “Artists are a large part of our clientele for our framing services. I think because we are artists ourselves, we have a special insight into what their needs are when we undertake their work,” Sonja says.
In any one day, you may find the owners and their staff hanging a new show in the Akasha Art Projects Inc. gallery or project managing an entire international hotel chain's worth of picture framing. Although many hats are worn by all who work at Akasha, they are never too busy to welcome old and new clients in to their Church Street location.
