From out of town but in Ottawa for the day and decided to see what type of guitars Intercontinental sold. After trying out three guitars (one listed at $3,000.00). They either required a major setup or sounded terrible. Have been playing professionally for over 40 years and when I mentioned to the sales man they were not the type of guitar I would be interested he asked me to leave. If you are starting out this would not be the place to shop.
I went into the store today looking to buy either a clarinet or saxophone. The owner showed me three clarinets. Then, I asked if he could show me some saxophones. He told me that he was there to sell, not to show instruments. I explained that I needed to see the instruments and know their prices before making a decision. He pointed at one saxophone on the wall and said: "There's the price, $1100". Before I could answer, he told me that I was wasting his time and told me to get out.
I'm in the market to buy a good classical guitar. I went to that store to see what brands they carry. First, I can tell you they don't know how to take care of their instruments. No humidifiers anywhere in the store and plenty of guitars hanging in front of windows. I was in the store looking around for 5 min when the old owner came to see me. I explained that I was shopping for a nylon string guitar, but he kept showing me acoustic guitars. After a couple of minutes he asked me if I was going to buy a guitar today. I said no, I'm looking at your products and trying to see if something is good for me. He just lost it , saying that I just wanted to try a model at his store and that I was gonna buy it on internet. He basically threw me out of his store. Really aggressively following me to the parking lot. That guy is just putting a name on guitars that are made in china. The price is super high and min. quality . I should of have read the many complaints agains him on the guitar forums. I feel bad for all the beginners who will get ripped off in that store.
The owner was OK. The quality was pretty good and the prices were very cheap compared to other stores. If you are looking for a beginner instrument this place is good enough. I must agree the signs that were put up on the walls weren't very welcoming. e.g. Please try out instruments for 5 MINUTES. If going to try out for longer please ask for extra time. e.g. You don't need to ask for your wive's permission. We already asked her.
Like the first person that reviewed this store, the owner was beyond rude to me. I went into the store to buy a guitar because I wanted to re-learn how to play. He showed me the ones in the range of 700-1000 dollars. He said he would give me a deal if I bought one that day. I told him I needed to research what I wanted and he lost his mind. He told me to "get out" and showed me the door. Then he yelled at me as I was leaving and called me a "liar" and "lying woman" for not buying his product. Awful, awful, awful. Do not go to this store!!
