Excellent! We used to take our elderly mother (91) for fish & chips as she loved it. One evening we arrived without her & the server immediately asked after her! Just a wonderful personal touch.

Prices are a bit higher than average, however this restaurant is a benchmark for quality.
Closed Sundays, and reservations aren't accepted.
Plan to have a short wait, as the Thistle is always busy, and for good reason!
The best chippy in the land in terms of the quality of the food. The Thistle has ran with the concept of doing a few things really well. The batter on the fish is a subtle work of art for those (like me) who don't like it thick like a bullet proof vest.
The only down side is that it's very popular, so you can get into a long line-up if you go at peak times. However, there's no line-up too long for this place. A very nostalgic trip for the taste buds if you're from "over there".

Really big portions... Home made fish and chips. Try the clam chowder...Tasty. Plus, as a bonus, at the checkout counter they have a fabulous array of Imported English chocolate bars. Yummy!!
