Started off with water that had fruit in the pitcher which was classy but water was room temperature. Tried the callamari and it was ok but prefer it deep fried. The steak was excellent and cooked to perfection. The jalepeno and cheese mashed potatoes was ok but neither flavour came through. Neither the wife or I cared for the red wine reduction drizzled over the potatoes. I noticed that all the posts are old and we were the only patrons dining from 7 to 8. Perhaps things have changed for the worse over time. I did get full which is the main thing. I did not on my last outing to Painters Hall. My quest for a fine dining experience in Barrie will continue. I think the people of Barrie are more easily satisfied with thier restaurants than in Toronto
I went in a short while ago, and fell in love. The service is something very special. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. As for the food. I had chicken coconut soup, followed by Scallops and risotto. It was one of the top 3 meals I've ever experienced. It is a little pricey, but if you feel like treating yourself, or you're trying to impress your date, this is a great little spot.
Best food in Barrie! Outstanding meal, service and beautiful atmosphere... And open on Mondays! Found it hard to decide what to order so I'm really looking forward to my next visit. Very pleasantly surprised and will recommend it to everyone!
We are never disappointed when dining at Groovy Tuesday's! I love that you can see the food being prepared right infront of you, the service is always excellent (wait staff is very attentive) and the menu offers lots of variety. We just had a baby and our last date night before he was born was here & our first date night after he was born was here. There was never any question where we would go!
Wanted to try some place new tonight. So after reading reviews on here I decided to try Tuesdays. Very nice dinner and comfortable atmosphere. My guest told me at least three times that her meal was great. I was very satisfied with both the meal and value.
I have traveled to many parts of the world and enjoyed many lovely meals abroad however, I can't think of a time when I have so loved every aspect of a restaurant, from the appetizers to the creative deserts. Now, the entree it's self was "TO DIE FOR" I actually closed my eyes to savor every morsal without distraction I could not believe the flavors. The service was over the top amazing. In my opinion this establishment is simply flawless!
What a great restaurant. The service was the best and the food was divine. I think we have found what we consider the best restaurant in Barrie.
I love this restaurant. The service is excellent and the food is soooo good! Its always a good experience and I will certainly be back!
Just a short walk from our Inn, the menu enticed us in. The server sat us right in front of the open kitchen where we were able to watch the chefs plate up their creations. The food was excellent, especially the jerk chicken spring rolls. Whatever was in that dipping sauce .... yummmmm. Will definitely be back next time we go through Barrie.
I adore Melanie. She welcomes you with her joyous Irish wit and her exuberant and infectious high spirited Energy. She makes certain that my favorite Jagermeister is chilling in the fridge and serves it the way I like it upon my arrival. The two young Chef's create BRILLIANT and ARTISTIC food...plate after plate. I checked off "Maybe" if I would visit again... that is if Christian the owner remembers his promise to me that he will always make certain that Jager will be available. I dearly hope he makes his way to the Liquor store today, because i would really miss Melanie and that Brilliant food.
Walking by, my roommate and I decided to go in for lunch, as we've heard some people give rave reviews about it. At first we looked over the menu, and decided it was a bit fancier than we had initially anticipated, although priced very fairly. The food was pretty good, and I'm sure their dinner would be amazing. The only thing I didn't really like, is they put all 3 party's at tables beside each other, instead of spreading them out. The open kitchen was pretty neat. If your looking for something a step up from the usual generic restaurant, I'd suggest you try here, but it wont be for everyone.
We decided to have dinner out at 6:30 on a Saturday night. There were surprisingly few customers there. The atmosphere was really nice and comfortable. There is a great open kitchen. Beware of being seated near the door...there is quite a draft when people come and go. The service from Christian, the owner was excellent. He was very friendly, attentive, and professional. We started with the vegetarian spring rolls. They were very fresh, good serving size, nice dipping sauce, but overall lacked flavour for our taste. For our entrees, I had the pork tenderloin in pastry with apples. The pork serving size was excellent and the sauce was tasty. However, there wasn't enough sauce for my liking and the pork itself was a bit bland with very few apples. I would've liked more vegetables on my plate too...3 green beans, a baby carrot and one brussell sprout wasn't enough. The forbidden rice is very different and is an acquired taste. My spouse's sesame seed crusted pan seared tuna was served rare which is the way that fresh tuna should be served. He enjoyed it very much but found that the forbidden rice was not a favorite. For dessert, I had the creme brulee which was perfectly delicious. My spouse had the mixed berry crepes. He enjoyed it but found it too tart for his liking...although others may disagree! With a bit of fine tuning Groovy Tuesday's could be a 5 star restaurant!
What a wonderful fine dining restaurant! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the people were wonderful, and the food is amazing. Both of our meals were delicious. Overall, we were very satisfied and will definitely be back!
This is a lovely, romantic restaurant. The service is excellent (thanks again to the lovely lady who made everything right for us!) and the food is magnificent. My husband and I make this a destination when we go anywhere up north. On par with the finer places in the world, and certainly my favourite!
What a great Restuarant...the food wonderful.the staff fun ....loved every minute..did not want to leave
We went there today on our 6th anniversary. We were not sure what to expect, since we've not been in the area before and did not know the restaurant. My husband checked the reviews carefully and decided that Groovy Tuesday's sounded the most likely for a nice evening. We checked the menu at the door and peeked in at the decor which confirmed our decision to stay. The service was very attentive, the atmosphere and music were very pleasant, and the food was absolutely perfect for us. Everything from the bread to the mains were well-cooked and subtly flavorful. The wine was lovely. The only issue for me was dessert, but I am overly-picky about such things (german and dutch heritage and all!) I would highly recommend this restaurant, and look forward to coming back for our next anniversary (if not sooner!).
The open concept of the kitchen is great, until you realize the cooks are wiping there noses and sneezin out in the open without care for the food. The female manager also was always on what appeared to be on her cell phone. The place has a great ambiance in it, but the language of some of the guests this evening was uncalled for and we just wanted to leave after a disappointing night out at this establishment.
I thought this restaurant was fantastic! The food was delicious and hot on arrival. Serivce was attentive and extremely friendly. My friends and I will be back again and will tell others about this unique little bistro!
I guess the owner's family has been reviewing this restaurant, because the only thing our party of four liked about this place was the empty parking spot available right out front.
Always great service and great food. We love the individual attention our server gives us. The food is prepared to be eye appealing as well as delicious. My mother-in-law was so impressed - it was her first time there.
