Born out of their passion for good coffee, good food and good health, two local moms built KokopelliCafe in 2006. Although it changed ownership in 2014, today it remains a unique destination cafe and neighbourhood favourite located in the heart of the Dunbar community.
Stepping into Kokopelli is like walking into a friend’s house, with a very casual and friendly atmosphere devoid of any pretension. You’ll find a large kid’s play area at Kokopelli, as well as an all-female front and back of house team running the show.
“We’re women-powered, that’s for sure. We are also one of the only kid-friendly cafes in Vancouver. No one can deal with screaming children like we can – our volume is at 11 at all times!” laughs Jaylin Melnichuk, the cafe manager. “And women can feel comfortable breastfeeding here.”
Kokopelli Cafe is a place where everyone in the family can enjoy high-quality homemade hot and cold beverages, baked goods, and light meals, including mac and cheese for both adults and kids. Customers also love Kokopelli’s frozen take-home meals, which are prepared fresh daily in the cafe’s kitchen.
Located in Dunbar, one of Vancouver’s most family-oriented neighbourhoods, Kokopelli Café is great place for brunch with the little ones. Tots will love the play area and kids’ menu, whereas grown-ups will love the stylish, comfortable atmosphere, gourmet coffee and superb baking.
Did anyone say family friendly? This café is perfect for families with young children. It has everything you would expect from a local coffeehouse (food, drinks, Wi-Fi) and an entire play area with toys for little ones. Kids can come together for play dates at Kokopelli, while the adults sit nearby and have their own grown up lunch dates.
In a neighbourhood without many family-friendly things around, Kokopelli has been a popular destination for Dunbar area parents since 2006. There’s a really great on-site play area for children to enjoy and the all-female staff here are extremely welcoming. If you’re hungry, the mac and cheese (available in both child and adult portions) is delicious!
