When Rain City Juicery owners Gabe Savage, Tylan Fraser and Clayton Oates first met as students at BCIT, they knew that they would open a business together someday.
One of the first pieces of the puzzle for the trio was the decision to open their business in New Westminster. Born at Royal Columbian hospital and raised in neighbouring Burnaby, Gabe has seen New West undergo a transformation in recent years. Rain City Juicery'sFront Street location is a prime example of the city's evolution, according to Gabe, who says that he wouldn’t have felt safe walking in the area as a teen. The city’s plans to redevelop the waterfront and the new businesses that are cropping up have changed all of that, though.
“There’s great stuff happening in this city now; so many young people and young businesses that support each other,” says Gabe. “We know that the more we succeed as a group, the more we succeed as individual businesses. It’s not just about our business, it’s about New West.”
Make the trip to New Westminister and you’ll see for yourself why Rain City Juicery proves that growlers aren’t just meant for beer. Unlike many grab-and-go juice bars, all of the cold-pressed creations here are made to order in front of you by expert mixologists. Extra ingredients such as muddled mint and splashes of jalapeño essence give these nutritious drinks a cocktail-inspired twist. Who knew green juice could be so much fun?
