How does a store that carries funny novelty bath salts and “redneck wine glasses” maintain a modicum of class? Twisted Goods pulls it off and then some, if the elegantly clad shoppers handling the store’s designer handbags and ogling artisan jewellery are any indication. The trendy gift and home decor boutique sells everything from wine accessories to wall art featuring meaningful messages.
With the motto “nothing you need and everything you want,” the store is a reflection of its founder, Shashi Behl. An effervescent dynamo, Behl is effortlessly and up-to-the-minute stylish, with a well-developed sense of humour and whimsy. She personifies the fact that fashion and fun are not mutually exclusiv. Behl opened the first Twisted Goods in 2001 in Saskatchewan. The store’s two Saskatoon locations are now owned by a former employee while Behl owns and operates three in Calgary including her flagship Market Mall location.
Twisted Goods is surprising and fun, just like your crazy-but-cultured loudmouthed aunt a few cocktails in. The Market Mall boutique carries the zany (novelty gifts such as redneck wine glasses), along with chic home decor and on-point fashion accessories. So, of course – scarves! There are racks of them from the splashy to the sedate, and endless infinity scarf choices (see what I did there?).
As its name suggests, Twisted Goods offers hip household decor items with numerous twists. With the motto “Nothing you need and everything you want,” the shop carries great funky international finds that will make the perfect gift for a friend, or yourself. Goods include jewellery, handbags, home decor items and stationary.
