To limit your children's exposure to toxic substances, start with the toy box. Here are a few tips to help you buy non-toxic baby toys.

Opt for natural and organic fibres that are PVC-free and contain no perfumes, preservatives or artificial colours.

• Natural fabrics such as cotton, flax and wool are recommended.
• Make sure wooden toys are unvarnished or painted with non-toxic paint that’s resistant to baby’s saliva.

• Seek out these companies and support them with your purchasing power.

Choose toys and games that are stamped or labeled as environmentally safe. Although such labels are not guarantees, they're a good place to start.
