Enjoy the game and a cold one at these Ottawa sports bars

What's better than watching the game? Enjoying beer and food with the game, of course. Ottawa boasts some great sports bars to watch your team battle it out on a big screen. With a variety of beers at your disposal, you will be prepared to drink to the success of your team or to soothe your sorrows (perfect for Leafs fans).

The Senate Tavern on Clarence

1
33 Clarence St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5P4

A sports bar classic in the Ottawa region, The Senate offers higher-end food in a sports bar setting. The park nachos are an excellent choice that you can wash down with one of the many beer selections on tap. Large TV screens are everywhere, so you won't miss a moment of action and the service is attentive without being intrusive. It's a perfect spot to take in a Senators game (or any game for that matter).

The Wood On Wellington

2
1237 1/2 Wellington St W, Ottawa, ON K1Y 3A3

While the dining area is somewhat small, the long bar offers plenty of seating and many screens for watching the game. The great beer menu gives you 19 options you can choose from and the food is fantastic. While digging into a peppercorn burger, enjoy the friendly neighbourhood-style atmosphere. You don't have to break the bank!

Maclaren's On Elgin

3
301 Elgin St, Ottawa, ON K2P 2N9

Found in the Golden Triangle, MacLaren's offers you an excellent place to get out and watch the game on huge flat screens. If you also enjoy playing pool while taking in the game, you can take advantage of one of the many pool tables they have available. The beer selection is great and the staff are knowledgeable about mixed drinks. On the menu is traditional pub grub, but the pulled-pork sandwich is a great choice.

St. Louis Bar & Grill

4
2-399 Elgin St, Ottawa, ON K2P 1M9

As an excellent destination for wings, the St. Louis Bar & Grill is the perfect place to hide away and enjoy the game with one of your favourite drinks. There are plenty of screens inside where you can watch the game, and even a few outside on the patio when weather permits. The menu includes all of the usual sports bar offerings, but the burger with poutine is an excellent choice.

Time Out

5
3094 Carling Ave, Nepean, ON K2B 7K2

The huge-panel flat screen behind the bar lets you catch every minute of the game while the food is always great. The cheese sticks make the perfect companion for one of the many beers on tap. You can find karaoke on Thursday nights in the seating area near the back, but keep in mind that this is decidedly a sports bar.

Sens House Sports Bar & Grill

6
73 York St, Ottawa, ON K1N 5T2

With no shortage of big-screen TVs to watch the game, you won’t miss a thing while you dig into your smoked applewood bacon burger and one of the beers on tap. Weather permitting, the rooftop is a unique way to watch your favourite game, but you can always find seating inside. The staff are friendly and efficient, but keep in mind that there can often be a wait.

There is something to be said for wandering into a noodle place in the middle of an Ottawa winter and slurping up an excellent steaming bowl of noodle soup. Don't get us wrong, though, we'll take that bowl in summer too! Whether you want some simple ramen or some tasty pho, this city has a large selection of options to choose from.
