Have you ever seen old maple sugar moulds that were made in Quebec? Do you own any? If you do, you may possess one of the most prized antiques on the local market — at least according to Sébastien Olivier and Sophie Boudrias, the owners of Rétrocité Montreal.
"Some objects, such as maple sugar moulds, are particularly sought after by American collectors," says Sébastien. "The reason is simple — they're rustic, hand-forged and impossible to find elsewhere. A bit like all pine furniture dating from the 19th century. It was stored in a house and it remained there forever."
The couple, who are fans of objects that "have seen it all", recently moved their workshop-boutique to Plaza Saint-Hubert, where the store has been attracting the curious, as well as lovers of the most discerning antiques.
