On Montreal’s Mount Royal Avenue, you can find a lot of boutiques, and among them is the unique Boutique Créatures. If you’ve ever wanted a wardrobe that no one else has, or clothing made by local artists, then this is the place to find it.
“There’s not that much competition for the style that we sell. We have a slightly more obscure side of fashion,” says owner Jonathan McHarg. “There's not really much competition in this domain, and when there is, it’s a younger approach and we're trying to have a more mature approach. People realize that. So when they come in, they see we are one of a kind.”
Most of what the boutique carries is made by local artists toiling away in their living rooms. The remainder of what it offers is imported, but Jonathan makes it clear that nothing at his store comes from a local sweatshop.
