There are at least half a dozen AYCE sushi places on College between Spadina and Ossington. I read the reviews for all of them before deciding to give Sushi D a try. There were a couple negative reviews, so I was a little apprehensive. I eat sushi at least once a month (usually a la carte, not AYCE) and consider myself pretty picky when it comes to quality and freshness. You can't mess around with sushi - either it is good quality or it isn't. The verdict? Sushi D is EXCELLENT in terms of quality, freshness and variety. Yes, it's a tad expensive when it comes to AYCE ($21 for the full menu), but is actually a good value considering you are getting the same quality and variety as an a-la-carte menu, but with all-you-can-eat portions. Both hot and cold dishes were very well-prepared. I especially enjoyed the specialty rolls (spider roll, dragon roll), the sashimi, and shrimp tempura. My husband really liked the chicken teriyaki. They also do not skimp on the portions. The sashimi, for example, comes in the proper size and cut, not tiny slivers of fish like you get at some other places. The decor is nice (modern asian), and clean. The place also filled up for dinner - and it was a weeknight. Always a good sign. Lastly, the service was very efficient. It isn't like some other AYCE places where you have to keep asking them for your order. At Sushi D, food came quickly, and they didn't get a single order wrong. If you love sushi and haven't tried this place, I highly recommend it. It is now my go-to place for AYCE sushi on College.
