The Temiskaming Native Women's Support Group, formerly known as the Kirkland Lake Native Women's Support Group (KLNWSG) was established as an ad-hoc entity in August of 1994. Local, Aboriginal women organized the group to discuss the lack of support services available to Native women and their families living in the Town of Kirkland Lake and surrounding area. The group carried out a comprehensive, community consultation process with Aboriginal families, Native professional service providers, mainstream service providers including government agencies and other concerned community members.
