Established in 1986, Olympium Rhythmic Gymnastics Club is proud of the successes of our rhythmic gymnastic program. Under the guidance of club founder and head coach Danuta Smiechowski, we offer a wide range of classes to suit the interests of gymnasts between the ages of 3 and 16 in our recreational and competitive programs.Rhythmic gymnastics was originated in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. The sport was developed to combine movements with music and unite the artistry of dance with athletic grace. Rhythmic gymnastics was recognized as an official competitive sport in 1962 by the International Gymnastic Federation, and made its Olympic debut at the 1984 Los Angeles Games, where Canada's Lori Fung won the very first Olympic Gold Medal in the sport.
