Tera Teng had been running her own dog-grooming business, Dog Gone Grooming, for seven years when she noticed there was limited choice for groomers to receive proper education. “I started hiring people and training them, and I found they were going and opening their own salons, so I realized a lot of groomers need this,” says Tera. “I went to school and got my certificate in adult education." In 2002, she set up a portable classroom next to her grooming business and opened Western Dog Grooming School.
Tera was already a master groomer before opening Western Dog Grooming School. Using her longtime knowledge and expertise, she planned and designed the grooming school during her studies. “I organized a curriculum and the lesson plans," she says. “It took a lot of work to get certification, and then, we got the school started.”
