More expensive than other good thai places in Edmonton. But very good. Location not good for parking. Nice ambience. They do catering at home; it is very good as well.
The food here is made with fresh herbs, quality spices and high-calibre meats and seafood, ensuring tastiness in every bite. There is also zero MSG in their cuisine. They recommend sharing dishes among a group, in order to get the best variety but they do offer smaller portions of most of their items. Some of their more popular dishes include pad Thai, steamed shrimp dumplings, vegetarian spring rolls and tom yam kung, a spicy and sour shrimp soup with lemongrass, lime and mushrooms.
As one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Thai restaurants in Edmonton, The King and I has a lot of history in the Old Strathcona area. Their original location was destroyed in a fire in 2003 but the owners quickly relocated to a different spot, just a few blocks away from the original. Their amazing Thai cuisine and loyal customer base meant that the business thrived in its new, larger location. And, celebs such as Mick Jagger, Reba McEntire and the members of Our Lady Peace have sampled the restaurant’s tasty dishes when in town for gigs.
