My wife and I always make a point of celebrating our anniversary at Ruth's Chris because the food and service are second to none.
I don't believe the steaks are the best here, I've had better. However... All but one of their steaks are American. i.e.: grain fed therefore sweeter than our Alberta Beef. This being said, it is a great restaurant. The atmosphere is awesome, the service is amazing, and the whole experience together with the sharable sides, gives this dinning experience a very intimate feel. The basement is very cozy and is unlike any other restaurant in the Greater Edmonton Area. My recommendations, get the Potatoes Au Gratin', Broccoli Au Gratin' and a good steak or chicken of your choice. Expect to spend $100 per person.
Steak is great here. Our favourite is the ribeye. Be careful not to order too many side dishes....they are sharable. You can definitely eat for the same as the keg in price but way better. Its the drinks; wine that makes the bill higher. Steaks are also large 10 to 16 ounces and definitely sharable.
I had expected to have an incredible dining experience but instead was incredibly disappointed. We had their premium steak and seafood. It came properly cooked but had almost no seasoning. The mushroom side dish had no seasoning whatsoever. We had asked for table for two (it was to be romantic) and were relegated to the basement with a family with young children beside us.

Nothing goes better with a big, juicy porterhouse steak than a nice bottle of red wine. This upscale downtown steakhouse curates their own wine list, of course, but if it’s a special occasion or you have a spectacular vintage at home, just dying to burst out of the wine cellar, then bring it with you. They offer BYOW but, be prepared to cough up a $50 corkage fee – perhaps the highest in the city.
