Car-pooling to extreme ends of the city cancelled a lot of the benefit longtime friends Jamie Davis and Cathy Sinclair-Smith should have gotten out of their weekly yoga classes. The time and energy the two moms spent getting to and from these sessions ruined their shavasana — that blissful time at the end of a yoga session where you tune out, relax and revel in the peace of your practice.

“We started talking and said, ‘Why are we doing all this driving to get to yoga?’” says Cathy. They agreed that if they were willing to invest such energy to practice yoga, plenty of other people were likely doing the same. Perhaps there was an opportunity to bring downward-facing dog to their southeast neighbourhood. The stay-at-home moms found a handy spot and opened Soul Hot Yoga in December 2011.

    Beautiful, Welcoming and Amazing Classes at Soul!

    I have been practicing at Soul since they first opened in Dec 2011 and I must say it is one of the most gorgeous studios in Calgary. I have been practicing and teaching in Calgary for the last few years and have been so happy to find Soul Hot Yoga as it is so close to home in South Calgary (McKenzie). Aside from the gorgeous decor, imppecable cleanliness, cooling face cloths after class and welcoming front desk staff, the CLASSES are awesome! Every class is different and wherever you are in life, you can find a class suited to your level/preference all in one day. You learn something new each class and they offer warm AND hot classes which alot of yogis really enjoy. Try this studio - you will love it!
