If you’re looking to get your hands on a rare pair of sneakers, want to sell an old pair of kicks or own a pair of sneakers that's in need of restoration, Lexington Ave Culture Spot is your go-to shop. The recently opened inner-city boutique is a favourite among Calgary’s sneaker collectors and enthusiasts (also known as “sneakerheads”). Owned by avid sneakerhead Alex Clarke, the store sells the city’s largest selection of new and used sneakers. “I called it the Culture Spot because it has art culture, hip-hop culture, sneaker culture and fashion. I really wanted to embrace a lot of different people,” says Alex.
A diehard sneaker fan, he is currently sporting a comfortable pair of Lebron 11s, but says that he likes to wear Jordan 11s when he goes out. He refers to the Jordan 11s as the sneakerhead equivalent of a stiletto high-heel, as it features a universally flattering style with a really uncomfortable heel. “They’re the most uncomfortable shoe ever. 11s are like when a girl puts that heel on that doesn’t work but they look so dope,” says Alex.
